Award for Kannan Devan tea museum

Kochi, Oct. 3: 
The Kannan Devan Tea Museum attached to the Kannan Devan Hills Plantations Ltd at Munnar has been awarded Certificate of Excellence for 2012 by TripAdvisor, a leading travel community.
The aim of the tea museum is to depict the growth of this more-than-a-century-old tea plantation, from the rudimentary tea roller to the present fully automated tea factory.
It also gives firsthand knowledge to tourists about tea processing and the operations that go into the making of black tea.
The Kannan Devan Tea Museum has been categorised under Recommended badge, a press release said.















South-west Monsoon Has been active over Kerala

Where as according to meteorology sources pirvom experience only 6 c m rainfall and main places in kerala such as Cherthala,Idukki,Peerumadu,Thodupuzha,Kanjirappally & Thiruvalla 5 each. CIAL Kochi, Kannur, Thalacherry, Palakkad, Kuppady, Vadakara, Irijalakuda & Kozha 4 each. Another 47 stations reported an isolated rainfall of 1-3 cm.
Forecast valid until the morning of September 6, rain or thunder showers will occur at most places in Kerala and at many places in Lakshadweep.


'Life of Pi' campaign to promote Munnar, Puducherry as tourist destinations



New Delhi, Jan 11: Cinema tourism, a growing segment in the country, received a shot in the arm in the capital Friday with union Tourism minister K. Chiranjeevi announcing a "Land of Pi" campaign in India inspired by the movie. These would also be posted on the "Incredible India" website and those of Puducherry and Kerala Tourism.
The campaign will include deployment of luxury buses between Chennai, Puducherry and Kochi and Munnar  branded with "Land of Pi" creatives . The campaign will host "Land of Pi" contests online with two prizes every month. The prizes would include holiday packages to Puducherry or Munnar, including air tickets and local hospitality.
The tourism minister said a "Land of Pi" boat with a stuffed toy tiger will be permanently placed at two prominent locations in Puducherry to provide a photo opportunity to visiting tourists. source click here...

Seaplanes latest attraction in Kerala


Thiruvananthapuram: Seaplanes will be the latest attraction for travellers headed to what the state tourism department promotes as "God's Own Country".
A Kerala minister said the planes would be launched later this month.
Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar said all the major mandatory licenses had been received for the launch of the seaplanes, and a date has to be fixed for the inauguration of the service by union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh. Seaplanes are single- or twin-engine aircraft with nine or ten seats, at the maximum, able to land on water as well as on land.
"Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kumarakom and the picturesque hill station Munnar would be sites where seaplanes would initially start flying. 
In Munnar, the seaplane jetty would be in the catchment areas of the dam there; in all other places, it would be on lakes or rivers. source check here...
